Starting a team

We're excited that you're excited about inventing impactful technologies! Starting a Project Invent team means you're taking the first steps towards making a real impact in the world. Let's get started.


1. Get excited about invention & apply

Browse our website, get inspired, and contact us if you have questions. Interested in bringing a team to your school? Fill out our short application form below and we will be in touch in 3-5 days. 

2. Recruit A Team + Mentor

Find a team of  5-8 teens as passionate about engineering for social good as you are. Then get a teacher (or other adult) hyped to be your mentor.

3. Have your mentor contact us

We're at We will arrange a phone call to fill them in on next steps like team registration, mentor training, and community partner matching.

4. Hang tight...

While we spend the summer finding you a community partner, you go have fun!

5. Interviews & identifying design opportunities

Meet your community partner in September and get to know the challenges they face day-to-day. Come up with some creative solutions.

6. Build your idea(s)

Time to build! Use the curriculum and starter kit we provide to start making your idea a reality.

7. get feedback

Go back to your user and see if what you built works. Some parts will, some parts won't.

8. Iterate

Incorporate your user's feedback into your product. Rinse and repeat!

9. Business plans

Pretty happy with your idea? Let's figure out how you will market your product and how you compare to competitors.

10. Demo Day

It's go time. Pitch in front of top investors and tech leaders for funding.
