Inspire young engineers and social entrepreneurs.

Students tackle problems in the real world, not artificial problems in the classroom. We provide the curriculum and support to get you started.

Students Create real change in Their communities.

True change starts with understanding. We help pair each team with a community client to work with throughout the year, going beyond a single interview.

Mentors Get One-on-one Support Year-round.

Invention can be a messy process. We advise team mentors throughout the year through any challenges that come up.

Who should apply?

Every January, we open our application to folks looking to lead Project Invent teams in their communities. Mentors don’t all look the same. Previously, we have accepted applications from educators of various disciplines (not just STEM), upperclassmen skilled in leadership, highly motivated college students, industry engineers, school administrators, parents, etc. Basically, our application is open to anyone interested in leading a team of high school changemakers through the transformative experience of inventing an impact. Here’s a few other things to consider before you apply:

  • you can travel to San Jose (July 8-11, 2019) or Pittsburgh (June 18-21, 2019) to attend one of our summer institutes (some travel scholarships available).

  • you can dedicate 2-4 hours/week to lead your team from October 2019 to May 2020.

  • you are excited about design thinking and student-centered, project-based learning models.
